LA ASPIRINA* REDUCE LA MORTALIDAD POR CÁNCER Y EL RIESGO DE METÁSTASIS

Evidencia de 3 nuevos estudios muestran que la aspirina puede reducir el riesgo de mortalidad relacionada con el cáncer y puede reducir o evitar el riesgo de metástasis distantes.

Los cambios al etiquetado aprobados por la FDA también incluyen nueva información sobre el potencial para los usuales efectos secundarios cognitivos leves y reversibles. Además, el prospecto de la lovastatina se ha actualizado significativamente para proporcionar información sobre las contraindicaciones y limitaciones de dosis del fármaco en pacientes que toman otros medicamentos que pueden aumentar el riesgo de lesiones musculares.

En el primer estudio, publicado en línea el 21 de marzo en Lancet, comparando la aspirina diaria con la no toma de aspirina para prevenir eventos vasculares, el uso de aspirina redujo el riesgo de muerte no vascular en los 51 ensayos examinados (muertes de 1021 vs 1173; odds ratio [OR], 0.88; P =.003). Cuando se examinaron datos de 34 ensayos (n = 69.224; el 89% del total cohorte), hubo menos muertes por cáncer en el grupo de la aspirina que en el grupo de control (muertes 562 vs 664; OR, 0,85; P =.008).
